Hi #happy

I plan on attending med school in Dominican Republic after i graduate from high school in June 2008. What are the GPA requirements for UNIBE and other Med schools that teach in English?

Also the high school i went to did not offer Physics.

dont worry about it .Unibe required 2.5gpa.In this country they dont care about your gpa..but you have to take an entrance exam which is super easy..the exam look like the ACT or SAT,but still more like the GED exam, but I can tell you in DR is your money whats count in here.....

And dont worry about physics .your will learn that in premed .they will teach you all you need .the premed has been tailored to the med program

"in DR is your money whats count in here....."?

I hope they offer quality education and not just let people pay their way through med school.

Does UNIBE prepare students well for the USMLE?
What if i want to do clinicals in the states?

Muchas gacias#happy

the rate exchange is 33 dominican pesos per one dolar, and all depends on you but..if you want to be a good Doctor? you do have to study hard just like in the states, and pass the USMLE with good grades. There is a center nearby Unibe for the the USMLEpreparacion. On the ohter hand ,but if you want to do clinicals in the states, you have to study hard .as far I know you have to be on the straight A`s,besides that. It will be a short clinical ...I heard is just like 90 days.

premed is for semester not 2 years, because you have to take summer ,is just like this ..24 credits per semester + summer 12 credits.this will take and average of a year and 1/2 ...and the med part another 3 and 1/2 year, that is your 5 years....in here you can take more credits in order to go with the program....the program has been designed for 5 years, total

I'm not an UNIBE student but I was just curious, what do you know already and what do you want to know, in specific details. I am located in the dominican republic, but I am a student of La UASD. This might not help you but I can try and answer some of your questions.
I wanted to know if it is feasible for me to make it through UNIBE with only sheer determination to get an MD. I do not speak spanish at all and wanted to know more importantly how hard it would be for me to make it through the clinicals. I was told by a friend that if I were to go to a foriegn medical school it would be nearly imposible for me to transfer after two years into a US medical school so I wanted to get an idea of what the clinical portion of the program was like. Also, is it diffucult to find housing near the medical school campus and what about transportation? Is there a fairly decent mass transit system in place? Or should I have my own transportation?

my friend u can transfer your credits to any where after your basic secince and you can fin a decent place near to the school for 600to 800 us furnish and learing spanish its up to you how faster you learn transport system is good to they have a public transport you 15 pesos to 20 go any where depends taxi is like 150 pesos oh one dollar is like35 pesos they rest of the expensas up to you.take care

Ok here is my question/problem

Hi everyone, I'm also interested in going to UNBIE but I live In Miami, FL therefore I'm very much interested in knowing if the school has dorms or if it has some type of facility to room foreigners or do they at least help you to find room and I also want to know about the entrance exam. I know someone said its like the sat but whaat subjects does it contain. Is there a book I can study from like the SAT prep books. Thanks!

Hello To Everyone!
I am a post grad student and I am researching the Medical School in the DR, so far UNIBE and PUCMM are the ones that most appeal to my goals. I was wondering if anyone can tell me a little more about the cities in which these are located? How easily can you find a place to live with a family(husband & child) and what are the price ranges? Thanks in advance for your responses ;0)
