Problem!

Hey y'all..

as u probably know, I'm considering going to med school in PK, but I have a problem...

the IBCC converts your scores to the Pakistani scale... which means when I send in my grades to them, they'll look at my grade average, calculate how many percent it makes out of the maximum average.

The problem is that Denmark has gotten a NEW grading scale, so when I finish college, they'll(Danish school system) convert my average(which is from the old scale) to the new scale, and thus my average becomes lower! I expect an average around 9.2 on the old one, which is 8.6 on the new one... and this means that IBCC will calculate how many percent 8.6 is out of 13(the maximum average) instead of 9.2... can I somehow make them convert my 9.2 to the PAK-scale instead of 8.6?(so my percentage gets higher)

hope u understand the question..

Ok , here's the thing... when i went to IBCC, they asked me if i could provide them with the scaling method used in grade 9 and 10 (highschool, grade 11 and 12 were not a problem) because they somehow found it very confusing... ... so yea... i've gave them a proper scaling method provided to me by my high school in a sealed envelope along with my grades...

so coming to the point, i think you should ask your local high school/ or examination/school board to provide you with some sort of scaling method that they use, which you can then mail directly to IBCC along with your grades... i strongly advice you do such a thing and they'll hopefully implement these changes while considering your grades.... hope that helps
The only way they won't convert it to the new scale is if they are unaware of the new scale, otherwise they'll do it on the old scale. If they are doing it on the new scale, then your only consolation for lower marks is that everyone else from Denmark will have lower marks too when they apply.

Eventually the HEC in Pakistan will become aware that Denmark has changed their grading system and change the grade expectations for med school applicants from Denmark accordingly and that'll work in your favor. Other than that, there's not much else you can do.

Hmm... I think they might be unaware of it as of yet... besides, it wouldn't fair of them to go by the new scale with me, because I'm technically a part of the old system, so when converting my grades they should go by the old system because I'm part of it... makes sense, no?

Btw, how should HEC's becoming aware of it work in my favour? :s...(sorry for being slow)
Yeah, you were graded on the old system you should technically get converted on that system too. Like Danny suggested, if you can get some sort of official document from your school that explains that old method of conversion, then just send that sealed with your official transcripts and hope for the best.

If HEC realizes that now the conversion is coming out less from Denmark, what I mean is that they'll start to accept lower marks as the new standard for admission into medical school. They won't still go off of the old system when all of Denmark is going off of a new system. That's how it'll help you out.
Thosa i do not think that it will be a problem for ud!

Because on our degree, there is the grades written on old system. thats why it does'nt matter
That was what i get to know when i collected the information.

Hope it can help..

Well, when they convert our grades, won't they just look at the average, instead of converting each grade?
i do not think so, they will see some of our grades in 4 subjects.
Math Bio Chem and Phys.

Because we have some subjects which they do not have in pak. So that's why average isn't the important thing.... Off cource they will see average but it is not that important

Are you sure about this?

I really hope what ur saying is true...
me too...

Because i have asked some of the universities or colleges and that is what i got to know.
Really? Oh my God, that's great to hear! I'm smiling!
hehe.. i they told me that the average in these subjects are more important than like old you know.
or billedkunst.

But i had psykologi in my chosen subject and it is just good because it is something have to do with the medicin... so it was great..

But offcourse you can also urself collect more info... what if im not all right. Cos im also sitting here in denmark and trying.

:)
But I think if you've gotten all this info FROM the UNIVERSITIES in PAK, then its gotta b true!
