With your scores, you will be eligible in even medical colleges of New York.
Unfortunately medical schools in America don't care in the least as to what kind of grades anyone had in high school. He'd have to complete a 4 year bachelor's degree first and have excellent grades during those 4 years along with a very high MCAT score and real world experience in some sort of research or clinical setting.

All this makes coming to Pakistan for med school a very appealing idea.

Also, although Shifa is the only medical college in Islamabad, there are others nearby. Rawalpindi Medical College is the only government run college in the area. Islamic International Medical College is also a private medical college in Rawalpindi.

my dear brother, your having a f***** laugh!!! do not, under no circumstance cum to pakiland to study. if u do cum to pakistan, then please, mastah riz freshy is right, shifa be the place homez if u wanna go private? fauji foundation is legit. but best option 4 u would be RAWALPINDI MNEDICAL COLLEGE. coz it is government. there is low levels of corruption. the teacherz dont care if u r a colonels son or if ur dad is a beggar. it dont matter to them coz they r getting there standard 10 000 rs per month.if a person deserves to pass, he will pass here. and with ur grades u could smash the entrance exm to bits and easily win a place on the local seats where ur tuition fee will
be less than 300 usd per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND AS FOR IIMC, INTERNTIONAL ISLAMIC MEDICAL COLLEGE. THIS IS A BIG NO NO, [Edited for Language]. THIS FALLS UNDER THE SAME BRACKET. DO NOT GO HERE, U WILL RETURN TO NYC CRYING. TRUST ME IVE BEEN HERE.

not that similar. u need to actually contact someone in pakistan and tell them to ask around for the past entrance examz. that i think would be your best option. if u dont mind me asking, u seem a little too good to be entering the medical scene in pakistan, which is dog eat dog. why are u doing this, is is not happening in usa. u aint got the grades, no benjaminz what.
i have seen a lot of uk and usa candidates go to pakistan with high hopes, optimism and it all chances after a while. they see the REAL pakistan. because pakistan is ok for expatriots for a holiday, for a joke a giggle. just go there in summer break spend sum money, but some sandals, smoke sum goldleaf, smoke some heroin, get a massage, eat sum chappal kebabz, eat sum pilao rice buy a cricket bat etc etc. but once it cums to doing a serious task in pakistan, for ex patriots, it goes really pear shaped. the main reason being, that its ok when we are giving the pakius our money, but when we actually wanna join them in an institute and go for it, they dont like it. i m sorry if u do not like wot i say, but as a muslim, my duty is to i tell other brothers who wear the spectacles of optimism that life is not as rosy as it seemz and in pakistan corruption, lies, deciet abuse, segregation, cast system, sexism, favouritism, sleez, spin and politics all linger in the air along with the smell of raw waste coming from their open sewage system. if u do decide to go pakistan, thinking being a good simple down to earth student will be ok, then u r mistaken. ever heard of "kick a man down and keep him down". that is what u must do 2 ur professors and fellow students. best ting 2 do is take a very influential person wit u, n settle on a bribed pass early on in the peice. then keep the staff iunder ur thumb by swearing at them. this is all achievable, because u r from the land that their general father salutes. and ofcourse u have the benjaminz, USD. brother u may find this shocking, but the truth is shocking in a land like pakistan. I WOULD STILL ADVISE U TO GO TO RMC INSTEAD OF SHIFA. any way i wish u the best of luck wit it, n do not be offended, i only try to help u, coz i do not wanna see another brother emotionally wrecked in the land of the fuedals. it happened to me and my brother a few years ago and still hurts today.

To Awaiseali,

I am very interested in the brain. Becoming a neurosurgeon requires alot of time and dedication. Inshalah i believe i am willing to spend the time and i have the amount of dedication required. It would be wonderful if i got to my goal faster. Efficiency is also important(quality of education)

More advice please: I would like to know other opinions.

lying low is the way to go. don't come to pakistan thinking that you're better than all the pakistanis, because they'll definitely pick up on it. i'm currently a 1st year student at Shifa and in my opinion it's probably the easiest college for foreigners to adjust to. granted it doesn't have all the bells & whistles of US med schools, but i mean it is pakistan. yes..certain areas smell, not everything is pretty here, but considering the fact that living in a 3rd world country for 5 yrs is going to give you an amazing education it's definitely worth it. their system isn't perfect but if you're willing to actually study the professors will like you right away. Don't cause problems and don't get on their bad side because you'll be depending on them for 5 yrs.

bribing yourself through med school sounds like an excellent idea!! #shockedkudos to awaiseali for recommending it! in actuality it rarely works and will most likely come back to bite you in the....it's definitely not the way to go. getting mixed up in that sort of business is extremely shady and oddly enough is not the way to win over the favor of your teachers.

oh and by the way check out this thread for info about entrance exams: http://medstudentz.com/pakistan-medical-schools/280-any1-going-apply-mbbs-year-2007-a-3.html

There is no such thing as an IBCC entrance exam. Shifa has its own Entrance Exam, however that has nothing to do with the IBCC. Read up on the Shifa College of Medicine thread -- it's the best prep you can get if you want to be a future Shifa student!

Thanks for the advice guys. I just have two more questions to ask from the brothers who attend Shifa. Is there any biomedical program?, is there any neurosurgical training throughout the 5 years at Shifa?

Thanks for the help.

bribary and cheating is completely and utterly wrong, i admit that. but are u telling me that pakistan is a legitamate country were things get done by the book. no dear brother it is not. u do not get voted 2nd most corrupt country after nigeria by the UN independant committe 8 times in ten years for nothing. is it a coincidence that benazir bhutto and mian shariff were the two most wealthy parties in the country and got voted into power "democratically". no, they bought their votes. only in pakistan u can sack n humiliate the cheif justice coz he does not fit into musharaffz mould. sorry to be political, but if tus is true. as a wise man said, "in rome do what the romans do" in pakistan do what the pakistanis do, leave ur morals and ethics behind in the western world. were else can a 99 yr old man have a 14 year old bride? only in pakistan my friend. please brother wake up. get ur degree, by hook or crook. n then get the hell out of pakistan. i just state the truth, its crude, but true. can anyone put their hand on their heart and deny wot i have said? i dont think so. phatter pe lakeer shit!!!

There are certain aspects of Pakistan that are absolutely corrupt, there's no doubt about that. Political parties are a clear example of this. However, in terms of education there's no need to stoop to such dishonorable methods. I can speak of my own college in saying that the professors don't hold an automatic vendetta against foreign students where they simply try to fail them. I have no intention of getting a degree by "hook or crook" and truthfully am disgusted by the suggestion. The idea of entering a noble profession through a web of deceit and lies seems rather ironic. If you're not planning on reading actual textbooks maybe a degree by "hook or crook" is the way to go, but for those who want to become educated doctors find a proper school, stop thinking about how to buy a degree and start reading.

Unfortunately bribery at the college level does occur in some cases but not all colleges tolerate that type of nonsense. It is important to research and find a legitimate institution when you're applying.

(At Shifa) Is there any biomedical program?, is there any neurosurgical training throughout the 5 years at Shifa?
Just curious.
Shifa College currently only has a medical program and a nursing program. No biomedical program.

You rotate through neurosurgery as part of your surgery training in your clinical years (3rd-5th year) but the exposure to neurosurgery specifically is somewhat limited. However you do learn in very intricate detail everything regarding neuroanatomy.
